Fast, Reliable Door Installation Across Florin
Door installation in Florin runs $1,200 – $4,800 for most front entry replacements, with sliding patio doors landing between $2,500 and $6,500 depending on framing condition and glass package. If you’re calling from Florin, we’ll have a real person on the phone immediately, and our crew can typically be at your home within one business day for an estimate. We know Florin’s ranch homes well: the 1950s – 70s floor plans, the east side’s stubborn louvered windows, and the way original aluminum door frames corrode behind stucco after fifty years of wet winters. That local knowledge changes how we quote the job. Call (279) 206-5094 and you’ll get a written price before any work begins.
Why Westlight Windows Sacramento Is Florin’s Preferred Door Installation Company
Westlight Windows & Doors has installed doors across Florin since 2009, and our technicians have opened enough walls on the east side to know exactly what’s behind them: undersized rough openings, rotted jambs, and aluminum frames that weeped for decades before anyone noticed. We don’t just swap slabs. We reframe, flash, and retrofit to modern code because Florin’s older ranch homes demand it.
Every Florin customer gets the same four promises, in writing, before a single screw turns: a committed arrival window, a clean job site, a written price, and a written guarantee on the finished work. That’s the Kingswell Guarantee, and it applies to every single project no exceptions. Owen Satterfield leads our crew with one rule: if the work isn’t right, we’re not done. That’s why the 365-Day Done Right Promise exists. If a door we installed in Florin fails within the guarantee period, we come back and fix it at no charge. No phone tree, no negotiating.
Crews serving Florin are background-checked and uniformed, so you know exactly who’s walking up your driveway. Our office answers 24/7 with a live person. Not a voicemail box. When a Florin homeowner calls at 7 p.m. about a front door that won’t latch, a human picks up.
Front Door Replacement in Florin
Front Door Replacement in Florin almost always costs more than the national average because so many of the original 1950s-70s entry openings were framed for thin aluminum units, not modern insulated fiberglass or steel doors with full weatherstripping. A typical front door replacement in Florin runs $1,400 – $4,200 installed, including new casing, threshold, and weatherseal. The price moves based on what we find when the old frame comes out, and we’ll price every discovery in writing before we touch it.
Entry Doors on Older Ranches
Florin’s single-story ranch homes were built fast, and the entry framing shows it. Many original headers are undersized by today’s code, and the rough openings rarely match a standard 36-inch prehung door without shimming or reframing. We inspect before we quote, so your written price reflects the real opening, not a guess.
Weatherseal and Threshold Work
Florin’s wet winters and 100°F+ summers punish entry thresholds. A door that seals tight in March can bind in August as the slab shifts. We set new thresholds with proper slope for drainage and use compression weatherstripping rated for Sacramento’s temperature swings, so your front door stays flush year-round.
Door Replacement in Florin
Door Replacement in Florin usually means more than pulling an old slab off its hinges. On a 1960s ranch near Florin Road, our crew took out a failed sliding patio door and found the original wood framing rotted at the jamb and the rough opening too narrow for any modern insulated glass unit. We reframed the opening, added a full-height jamb with the proper design pressure rating, and installed a Therma-Tru fiberglass door with Low-E glass, then wrote the inspection-triggered flashing upgrade into the change order before touching the exterior. That’s what door replacement actually looks like in Florin, and it’s why our quotes include framing allowances instead of surprises.
Sliding and Patio Door Retrofit
Original sliding patio doors on Florin’s east side have no wind mitigation rating, so when a permit triggers, you’re not just swapping the panel, you’re replacing the entire frame. Retrofit means new jamb depth, new flashing, and a properly rated frame. We handle the whole scope, permit included.
When the Frame Is Gone
Rotted framing under an old door is common in Florin because aluminum frames corrode behind stucco and let water soak the jamb for years. If we find rot, we cut it out, sister in new treated lumber, and flash the opening properly before the new door ever goes in. We show you photos before we proceed.
Trusted Brands We Service in Florin
We stock and install doors from PGT, CGI, Therma-Tru, and ViewLux, so Florin homeowners get real product choice without waiting weeks for a special order. PGT and CGI build impact-rated doors that handle high wind and flying debris, a good fit for Florin homes that need a code-compliant upgrade. Therma-Tru fiberglass entry doors give you the look of wood without the rot. Our Door Installation team carries common parts and hardware for these brands, which means faster turnarounds when a Florin job needs a custom threshold or a replacement hinge. You get the right product for the house, not whatever’s on a truck.
Common Door Installation Problems We See in Florin Homes
- Corroded aluminum frames behind stucco. Original aluminum door frames weep and corrode over decades, letting water soak the jamb and subfloor during Florin’s wet winters. We find this hidden rot on nearly every untouched 1950s-70s ranch we open.
- Undersized rough openings. Builders framed these homes for thin aluminum slabs, not modern insulated units with proper jamb depth. A standard door won’t fit without reframing, which is why our quotes include framing work.
- No wind mitigation rating on old sliders. Original sliding patio doors in Florin don’t meet current design pressure codes, so a permit forces a full frame replacement rather than a simple slab swap.
- Leaking jalousie sidelites. Many older Florin entry doors have louvered glass sidelites that leak air so badly the new door’s energy savings disappear. Retrofitting the surrounding glazing at the same time is the only fix that actually works.

FAQs About Door Installation in Florin
A door replacement on an older Florin ranch typically triggers requirements for wind mitigation ratings on exterior openings, proper flashing and weatherseal, and sometimes an upgraded header if the original framing doesn’t meet current standards. The specific upgrades depend on the door’s location and the home’s original construction. We pull the permit, coordinate the inspection, and include any code-required work in your written price before we start. Call (279) 206-5094 for an exact scope on your home.
In most cases, no. Original aluminum sliders from Florin’s 1950s-70s building era have no wind mitigation rating, and a code-triggered upgrade forces a full frame replacement rather than a slab swap. Retrofitting just the panel leaves the old, unrated frame in place, which won’t pass inspection. We replace the entire opening, jamb and flashing included, with a properly rated frame and modern insulated glass. The result is a door that actually seals. Call (279) 206-5094 for a written quote.
Yes. Replacing an exterior door in Florin requires a permit because the work involves the building envelope, and inspectors verify that the opening meets current code for wind mitigation, flashing, and weatherseal. We handle the permit application, schedule the inspection, and make sure the work passes the first time. The permit cost is included in your written estimate.
We cut out the rotted wood, sister in new treated lumber, and flash the opening properly before installing the new door. You’ll see photos of the damage and the repair before we close anything up. The repair is priced and approved in writing as a change order, so you’re never surprised by a line item at the end of the job. Call (279) 206-5094 and we’ll inspect your framing for free.
Yes, if the surrounding glazing is sealed too. Florin’s 100°F+ summer days push heat through every gap, and a new Low-E door with proper weatherstripping cuts solar heat gain at the entry by a measurable amount. But if you have leaking jalousie sidelites or an old slider nearby, those losses overwhelm the door’s savings. We address the whole opening during the estimate so your energy investment actually pays off.
